Greetings from the flight deck and welcome to CenterPilot ready to fly buckle up take off maybe bumpy as you learn your wings, but we're confident. You'll be soaring through clear skies and Landing smoothly soon. So sit back relax, and enjoy your flight. The first step in the CenterPilot three-step perfect flight plan is to create pre-save Mills that meet USDA food program compliance. Once Mills are created the Second Step combines meals in today's and then weeks that reflect cycle menus. The final step is to parachute the millweeks into the monthly calendar.

Once the first two steps are complete only the third step will need to be repeated monthly saving Center staff hours of meal planning time. In this flight training, we will review only the first step how to create pre-saved meals note that we will first watch a short complementary in-flight video, then we'll review each step in detail. Then the video will replay again at the end. Many users forget this very important step that must be completed before pre-saved meals are allowed to save each Center must enter the expected number of participants by age group for each meal type that is served in the facility.

Here's how to do that. From the main menu ribbon at the top select facility, then the first choice facility information if the center is not already selected selected in the upper left select the number attending meals tab at the top. Add the number of expected attendees by age group for each meal that the facility is proved to serve. click on save number attending meals Now you're ready to watch the video and begin creating your pre-saved meals. Now that you've seen the complete process, let's discuss in detail each function in the process to begin.

Let's take a look at the meal planning screen and describe each function. When logged in on the center level the name of the center or site will already be selected in grayed out. Click the upper left-hand button to change from Child adult meals to infant meals. Select what type of Mill to create breakfast am snack lunch PM snack supper or evening snack? Note this statement explaining that pre-saved meals are interchangeable. This means that one created snack with the same name and components may be used as all three snack types.

the same applies to lunches and suppers click in the empty box to name the meal all Mills must be named before the meal can be saved. Notice that the save this mail button is inactive and greyed out until the meal is complete select reset form button when adding more than one meal at a time. This will clear the options for the next meal. The expected attendance numbers are imported from the facility information screen on the number attending tab. If these numbers are not correct, please correct them and facility information then return to this process.

The delete mail button will remain inactive until the meal is saved. It should only be used to permanently delete a mill if edits are required. Do not delete the mill. The drop-down menus at top right are where Mill components are selected. The selection process will be covered in more detail in a bit. As the mill is built and required components are added the mill errors will disappear one by one and the selected components will appear in the cooking detail Grid at the bottom. Ready, let's create a pre-saved meal from the main menu ribbon select pre save Mills.

Then the first choice create edit pre-saved meal. If a child or adult Mill is the correct type. No action is required here. If an infant meal will be created click the child adult button to change to infant. Select the mill type from the drop-down menu in this example lunch is selected, but breakfast am snack PM snack supper or evening snack may also be selected. Take a quick look at the expected attendance. Grid which shows the default numbers for the number of expected participants in each age group for which meals will be planned.

These are the numbers that will be used in the meal production record to calculate the amount of food purchased and prepared. If these numbers are not correct, please first correct them and facility information then return to this process. The next step is to name the meal and CenterPilot. It is recommended that the mill name include the actual components in the mill. There are a few reasons for this one reason is because CenterPilot uses the name of the mill to print menus for posting in this example.

The meal name is Meatloaf mashed potatoes broccoli whole grain roll and milk notice the WG in the name of the meal. This indicates that the role is whole grain adding the WG or AWG for all whole grain informs at a glance which meals and snacks contain whole grain components. Now we are ready to begin adding actual components to the mill begin selecting the components from the drop-down menus on the right side of the screen as we progress to the next two screens. Remember that we are working from the upper right hand side of the screen.

You will notice right away that the components and CenterPilot reflect the correct descriptions from the food buying guide. This is beneficial since the meal production records will reflect the correct wording required by your state agency. As you select components pay attention to select the line item that correctly describes how the food is purchased. CenterPilots meal production records will inform cooks and vendors how many cans packages or cases to order and prepare? Let's take a look at the various choices for meat components.

This list is from the first drop-down menu select a meat product. If our kitchen staff is making homemade meatloaf, the meet ingredient will most likely be ground beef but in CenterPilot, it's important to select the ground beef that is actually purchased as explained in the prior training on preparing to create pre-save Mills. It is recommended that center staff standardize all menus and recipes to use the same basic components, for example for all menus and recipes that use ground beef. This Center will always purchase and use 90/10 ground beef.

So that is the correct choice to be selected for the meatloaf menu. For another menu, the center will be serving frozen pizza. This product has a CN or child nutrition label. The center will take care to select the correct Pizza by checking the package or case size and the actual CN label number in this case. The center has standardized to always serve Tony's smart pizza with turkey sausage that arrives packaged in a 28.14 pound case with 96 servings per case. The CN label number is 093244. In CenterPilot food components are generic to specific.

So first we scroll to find pizza then we will look at the other details including the type of protein on the pizza beef cheese chicken pork or turkey as well as the brand or food manufacturer the count in weight and the CN label number. To add the pizza crust to our menu as the grain component. We need to be sure to select the exact same pizza crust. This pizza has a whole grain crust. So we will select it from the select a whole grain product drop down menu on the right. CenterPilot will correctly credit products selected from the right-hand menu as whole grain products when meals are combined in today's When combining pre-save Mills in today's CenterPilot will not allow a day to be saved without a whole grain component.

From the whole grain drop-down menu. We will select the pizza with the same description including brand case size and CN label number. Most vegetable and fruits and CenterPilot are based on the food buying guide. Again. We recommend that the center standardized how all fresh frozen and canned vegetables and fruits are purchased. Let's use green beans as an example. If the center has standardized to purchase an open number 10 cans of cut green beans that will be served heated and drained each meal that features green beans.

Well reflect that choice. green beans have a different calculation in the food buying guide if they are canned then if they are fresh or frozen as well as the style of The Bean cut French style whole or flat Italian and if they are served drained heated and drained or Raw Food program meal patterns for a lunch or supper require the service of either two vegetables or one vegetable and one fruit if two vegetables are selected. The fruit option will no longer be available. Only two allowable components may be selected.

If one year old children are fed in the facility. It is required that whole milk be selected as well as 1% or skim milk. When a complete creditable meal is created the meal errors grid will no longer show errors. The cooking detail grid will reflect all milk components the way the components are purchased as well as other useful information that will also appear on the meal production record and the save this Mill button becomes active when the mill is saved a pop-up confirmation will appear just a quick note that it is possible to enter a more simplified version of foods and CenterPilot for sponsors and states that do not require meal production records or centers who wish for a simplified meal production record notice that every food type has a simplified Choice such as beef any one ounce and broccoli any 1/4 cup Although these choices are available.

Please be aware that calculations of amounts of food to purchase and prepare may not adhere to the guidance given in the food buying guide. This method is not recommended for centers that are required to show correct and specific calculations on meal production records. We're almost ready to land but before doing so let's take a quick look at creating pre-saved infant meals. Back on the create a pre-save mill screen click on the child / adult and change to infant here name the meal something that makes sense for infants yet still includes the components of the mill the name of the meal can be more generic as shown here or can be more specific and include the kind of infant meat or cereal and vegetable.

Take a quick look at the number of infants in each age group for which you need to plan notice that only one meal error shows up in the mill errors grid since infant milk is the only requirement for younger infants and all other foods are optional until the infant is developmentally ready. And finally note that infant milk is a separate drop-down menu. Again remember as we progress to the next slide that we are working in the upper right area of the screen. Notice that there is only one choice for infant milk But it includes formula and breast milk all infants under one year of age are on one or the other or both.

So a single Choice accommodates all for all other infant Foods selecting infant foods for pre-safe Mills will work for your site while also complying with the preferences of your sponsor and the regulations of your state. This means that infant food selections may be specific as in the case with this infant beef or generic as this infant meat meat alternate of choice. The same applies to infant grains including iron fortified infant cereal and infant Breads and crackers which should be selected for snacks only and for infant vegetables and fruits in this example infant garden vegetables is very specific while infant vegetable of choice is generic.

Notice that generic choices may require that infant teachers add more detail for individual infants on the Infant meal production records if required by your state. And there you have it now, you know the first step in the three-part perfect flight plan when you are ready. Please progress to the next training creating pre-saved meal weeks. As we make our Final Approach To The Runway, please. Enjoy our in-flight video one more time. We thank you for flying with us today. And as always, thank you for choosing CenterPilot.
